Apple Fritters

DSC02051Super simple, just a few ingredients and you have a delicious apple fritter in no time at all! These are great for brunch!


• 3 Granny Smith apples
• 2 eggs
• 1 cup of milk
• 3 1/3 cups of all purpose flour
• 1 tsp of sugar
• dash of salt
• vegetable oil for frying
• cinnamon sugar for sprinkling on the fritters *see below
• glaze, optional *see below


Core the apples and slice them into 1/4 inch pieces, leave the peel on.DSC02042Combine the eggs and the milk, then stir in the flour, sugar and salt. Add the apples to the flour mixture and stir to coat all of the apples.DSC02038Heat an inch of oil in a deep skillet til very hot, 350°. Working in 4 batches, spoon in a glob of the apple mixture and flatten into a disc with a spatula. Fry about 2 minutes on each side til golden brown. Remove from the oil to a paper towel and immediately and generously, sprinkle on the cinnamon sugar. DSC02045 That’s it! To take this one step further, make a glaze with powdered sugar, milk and vanilla and drizzle over the top!

Cinnamon Sugar:
3/4 cup of sugar
1 1/2 Tbs of cinnamon
1/8 tsp of nutmeg (optional)   Mix all ingredients together in a small bowlDSC02041Glaze:
1  1/2 cups of powdered sugar
3 – 4 Tbs of milk or half and half
2 tsp of vanilla extract
Stir all ingredients together til very smooth
