Baby Back Ribs
Bbq ribs cooked looooow and slooooow! If you have the time, this method creates the most incredible ribs ever. Let the ribs rest with a dry rub, overnight if you can, then bake in the oven at a very low temperature until they’re super tender, bathe them in sauce, sprinkle with sugar and finish them on the grill, outstanding!
- 1 slab of baby back ribs
- 1 bottle of bbq sauce*
- 1 Tbs of granulated sugar for sprinkling on the ribs
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp of onion powder
- 1 tsp of paprika
- 1 tsp of kosher salt
- 1 tsp of freshly ground black pepper
Start by making the dry rub, combine all ingredients in a small bowl and apply to the ribs pressing firmly. Cover and refrigerate for 5-6 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 230 °, bring the ribs to room temperature and place them on a foil lined baking sheet, bake for 3 hours.
Remove from the oven and slather with bbq sauce and sprinkle with the sugar.
Prepare the grill for indirect heat, coals all on one side and place the ribs on the side without coals. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes until the ribs start to get charred, turning once. Apply more sauce while cooking.*I always start with a good basic bottled sauce and add: Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, dijon mustard, garlic, onion powder and salt & pepper.
