Blackened Tilapia

A delicious Cajun Classic! Quick and easy for a weeknight dinner but also perfect for a dinner party!

Ingredients:
Serves 2
Spice Rub

  • 1 1/2 Tbs of smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbs of garlic powder
  • 1 Tbs of onion powder
  • 1 Tbs of dried thyme
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp of dried basil
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp of kosher salt
  • 1 tsp of chipotle chili powder

Tilapia

  • 2 Tilapia fillets
  • 3 Tbs of melted butter
  • lemon wedges

Mustard Butter

  •  2 Tbs of Creole or spicy mustard
  • 2 Tbs of softened butter

Directions:

Mix all spice rub ingredients together in a small bowl, you won’t use all of this for this recipe, store the rest in an airtight container.
Brush the fish with melted butter. Rub on the spice mix and let rest for 15 minutes at room temperature before grilling.
Mix together the Creole mustard and the softened butter in a small bowl.
Prepare the outdoor grill. Oil the grate and grill the fish about 2 minutes on each side, until blackened and beautiful!
You can also cook on the in a cast iron skillet, get the oil screaming hot and cook the fish about 2 minutes on each side.
To serve, plate the Tilapia, top with a dollop of the mustard butter and serve with a lemon wedge. YUM!
