Cherries Jubilee

DSC01538DSC01269Without a doubt, cherries are my favorite fruit! My daughter Ellie picked these from our own trees for the first time, so exciting!
In my humble opinion Cherries Jubilee is one of the best things in the world! And who does’t want to set their dessert on fire!

Ingredients:
Serves 8

• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1 Tbs of cornstarch
• 1/4 cup of water
• 1/4 cup of orange juice
• 3 cups fresh tart cherries, pitted (you could use frozen cherries, but not canned)
• 1/2 tsp of orange zest
• 1/4 cup of of brandy

Directions:

Combine sugar and cornstarch in a medium saucepan.

DSC01596 Add water and orange juice, stir til well mixed.DSC01600 Cook until thickened, stirring occasionally. Add cherries and orange peel,DSC01610DSC01603 bring to a boil, turn the heat to low, simmer for about 20 minutes. Heat the brandy for a few minutes in a separate saucepan, DSC01615then, pour it over the cherries and ignite!DSC01623Serve over vanilla ice cream or lighten up and serve over frozen yogurt.DSC01642 You can serve this warm or cold. So simple…yet…so sophisticated!
